     Roger Arve Vigulf - Clarinettist in: Ensemble KammerKlang, Trio R3, Ensemble KammerKlang Trio, Pentacornicus Woodwind Quintet. Member of: Norwegian Society of Tone Artists(www.ntks.no) The Norwegian Composers Society, TONO and Gramo. Roger Arve Vigulf was born in Aalesund and raised in Spjelkavik, Norway. He began playing the clarinet in September 1973 at the Aalesund Music School under the guidance of Arne Sæther. At the age of 10, he was a finalist in the national "Play Yourself" competition, performing in Oslo University's Hall. The following year, he was accepted into the Norwegian National Youth Band as its youngest member, 11 years old. In 1980, he moved to Noetteroey and later pursued music studies at Toensberg High School. He completed his Bachelor’s degree at the Eastern Conservatory of Music in Oslo and continued advanced studies in Copenhagen with Lee Morgan, Principal Clarinetist of the Royal Danish Orchestra. Since June 1988, Vigulf has worked as a professional freelance musician, performing widely across Europe and the U.S. He has appeared as a soloist with the Kaunas City Symphony Orchestra, Lithuania Chamber Orchestra, CalState Jazz Orchestra (Los Angeles), Sandvika Big Band, Vestfold Sinfonietta, Vilnius State String Quartet, Chordos Quartet, Cicada Quartet, and others. He has collaborated with leading artists such as Einar Henning Smebye, Geir Henning Braaten, Haakon Austboe, Arvid Engegaard, Harald Aadland, Ole Boehn, and Mia Cooper. As an orchestral musician, Vigulf has performed with the Norwegian Chamber Orchestra, the Norwegian Radio Orchestra, Trondheim and Stavanger Symphony Orchestra, Opera Mobile A/S, the Kristiansund Opera, and the Norwegian Armed Forces’ music corps in Oslo, Halden, and Harstad. From 1990 to 2001, he also taught clarinet(part time)at various music schools. Vigulf has been an active composer since 1995, with a substantial catalogue of over 170 works, many commissioned by professional musicians and ensembles. His compositions are published by the National Library of Norway and Norsk Musikkforlag. He has released several recordings featuring his own works and is known for his wide-ranging musical interests, spanning contemporary music, classical repertoire, klezmer, Balkan folk music, and free jazz. He has received numerous scholarships and awards, including the Vestfold County Artist’s Grant (2006), the Recognition Grant from the Norwegian Society of Composers (2014), and multiple awards from the Norwegian Composers’ Fund, Composers’ Remuneration Fund, Norwaco, Music Norway (stikk.no), the Fund for Sound and Image, and the Fund for Performing Artists. He served as a jury member for the Norwegian Grammy Awards (Spellemannprisen) in 2008–2009. In recognition of his long-standing contribution to Norwegian–Lithuanian cultural cooperation, he was invited to a royal gala dinner at the Royal Palace in April 2011 during the state visit of the President of Lithuania. Deeply engaged in cultural advocacy and artistic development, Vigulf has created performance opportunities for others and founded several ensembles, including Ensemble KammerKlang (2019), Pentacornicus Wind Quintet (2024), TRIO R3 (2020), Giuffre Memorial TRIO (2022), Lithuania Winds (2013), Terra di Siena (2003), Vestfold Sinfonietta (2006), Ensemble Trittico (1995), and the Oslo Wind Quintet (1988). In September 2024, he was an artist-in-residence at the Antonio Bibalo House outside Larvik, supported by Vestfold County Council.
