Roger Arve Vigulf


International clarinet soloist
(Norway)

Born in Spjelkavik/Norway, June 9th 1964. Educated at the Norwegian Music Academy with
Professor Richard Kjelstrup. Further studies in Copenhagen with Lee Morgan
with scholarship from Fund For Performing Artists. Masterclasstudy with Guy Dangain.

Vigulf has been solist with ensembles as Vilnius Quartet, Ametri Quartet, Sarajevo Quartet,
Strings Unlimited, Cicada Quartet, Professor Einar Steen-Nøkleberg, Professor Einar Henning Smebye,
Geir Henning Braaten, Geir Botnen, Arvid Engegård, Terje Tønnessen,
Strings from the Oslo Philharmonic Orhestra. Vigulf has played with conductors as
Matthew Rowe, David Porsejlin, Christian Eggen, Ingar Bergby and Ole Christian Ruud.

Vigulf was engaged as Principal clarinetist and E-flat clarinetist in the Norwegian Radio Orchestra in 1996, and has repeatedly been substitute clarinetist there since 1994. Substituting concertmaster for “The Band of the Armed Forces” in Northern Norway in 2001, permanently clarinetist in the Opera in Kristiansund N. in 1998. Since Autumn 2000 Vigulf embarked on a fulltime Soloist career together with his work as composer and leader of Mirabilis Management. Vigulf has been engaged by New Music(the Sonus-series), New Music in Stavanger, Chambermusic Society`s in Larvik,Øvre Eiker,Molde,Stavanger, Tønsberg, The Ultima festival in the period 1996-99 as orchestra musician, and permanent engagements with The Lithuanian Philharmonic Society since 2001. Terra di Siena together with guitarist and composer Gisle Krogseth. The Grieg Ensemble established in Vilnius/Lithuania and the avantgard jazz trio Cool Matrix(cl,cb,pn.) established in Oslo. In June 2004 Vigulf is engaged as soloist in Los Angeles with Calefornian State University Jazz Band and compositions by Roger Arve Vigulf and John Martin Kennedy. In 2005 Vigulf has engagements as soloist at the Klaipeda Spring Festival and in 2006 engaged as soloist with the Lithuanian National Philharmonic Orchestra for a new concerto (comission by Vigulf) by composer/cellist Arvydas Malcis.
